PCHRD Research Grant

PCHRD funds research proposals that are aligned with the research priority topics under the National Unified Health Research Agenda (NUHRA). NUHRA guides the health research sector on the health researches that address the most pressing health concerns of the country. NUHRA specifies the areas and topics that need to be addressed in the next five years, in line with global and national initiatives influencing the health sector.

What proposals may qualify
PCHRD supports research initiatives under the Global Competitiveness and Innovation in Health priority of NUHRA. This includes studies on:

A. Diagnostics
B. Tuklas Lunas (Drug Discovery and Development)
C. Functional Foods
D. Hospital Equipment and Biomedical Devices
E. Information and Communication Technology for Health
F. Dengue and other Arboviruses
G. Disaster Risk Reduction
H. Climate Change Adaptation
I. OMIC Technologies for Health (Platform Technology Across Research Priorities) .

Who may apply
Filipinos with at least a Master’s Degree in a relevant field, have proven research competence/track record, and employed in universities/colleges, research agencies/institutes, hospitals, and other health related agencies are eligible to apply for the research grant.

  • Duties and Responsibilities of each Project Personnel
  • Biosafety Clearance, if applicable
  • Institutional Animal Care and Use Clearance, if applicable
  • Ethics Clearance (for studies involving human subjects)
  • Informed Consent Form
  • Case Report Form, if applicable

Regional Research Fund

Regional Research Fund (RRF) is viewed as a way to encourage beginning researchers to be actively involved in health research activities without having to compete with more experienced researchers. These RRF projects are intended to build up the capabilities of individual reserachers in designing, implementing and managing health research projects.

What proposals may qualify
Research proposals that will be reviewed by the RHRDC and PCHRD are those which address priority health problems/issues identified in the Regional Unified Health Research Agenda (RUHRA) and/or National Unified Health Research Agenda (NUHRA) of the Philippine National Health Research System (PNHRS). The proposals should also have a budgetary requirement not exceeding FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND PESOS (P500,000.00), and have a duration of six months to one-year.

Who may apply
Regular staff and faculty members of research institutes, medical and paramedical schools, hospitals and other health related agencies may submit proposals to the RHRDC, properly endorsed by the head of the agency. Likewise, medical residents of hospitals may submit proposals provided that he or she will be working under the supervision of a more experienced researcher affiliated in the same institution.

 Support to Research Dissemination

The Research Information, Communication, and Utilization Division of PCHRD supports projects and activities on research dissemination, including, but not limited to support to publication, paper presentation, and events.

Eligibility

The program will provide financial assistance to all Filipino health researchers who intends to get their results of research communicated to the public and target stakeholders. The topic should be aligned with the National Unified Health Research Agenda 2017-2022.

 

Support to Publication

Researches, either funded or not by the Council, which are accepted for publication in local or international peer-reviewed journals may request for publication support.

How to apply

The proponent should submit the following requirements online through the PCHRD Project Management System:

• Proof that the journal article is accepted for publication
• Copy of the article accepted for publication
• A document that the journal is not a predatory journal

• Letter of request addressed to the PCHRD Executive Director

PCHRD also gives financial assistance to Filipino researchers who would like to print their monographs or books which are in line with the National Unified Health Research Agenda (NUHRA).

 

Support to Paper Presentation

Only researches funded by the Council which are accepted for oral presentation in local or international conferences can request for travel support.

How to apply

The proponent should submit the following requirements online through the PCHRD Project Management System:

• Letter from the organizing committee that the research is accepted for oral presentation
Line-Item Budget
• Letter of request addressed to the PCHRD Executive Director

 

Support to Scientific Event

Health Research Institutions and State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) which organize seminars, conferences, fora, and workshops for the dissemination of health researches aligned to the NUHRA may seek financial support.
